One of the most popular tools used by Moldovan educators in schools is Power Point. It is regarded by many educators as the most useful and accessible way to create and present student visual aids to the audience. However, this software has a series of disadvantages, which is why in the next two weeks we are going to explore other tools which offer more opportunities for students and teachers alike.

Task 1: Exploring Movenote
|
Task 2: Using Voicethread in teaching English
Watch and analyse three presentations created by Moldovan students. If you had to evaluate these projects, which one would receive the highest grade and why? Compare and contract Movenote and Voicethread - how are they different and what can they offer to EFL teachers in terms of teaching tools? (Voicethread tutorial) 1) Corruption in Moldova 2) Pepsi and Coca Cola competing against each other 3) Effective advertising |
Task 3 UtellStory - another exciting teaching tool
Watch the UtellStory introduction - how can EFL teachers use it to develop their students speaking, reading and writing skills? Explore the UtellStory Library and post the link to a presentation you liked - why did it catch your attention? Would your students be able to create similar stories using this tool? (UtellStory tutorial) |
- Create a special assignment for your students which would encourage them to use one of the three tools you have explored in this assignment: Movenote, Voicethread or UtellStory.
- Teach your students how to use the tool you chose by sharing with them a tutorial from YouTube and by showing several student sample projects they could watch and learn from.
- The assignment should be linked to an iEARN project you have already participated in, a project you are currently involved in or a project you plan to join in January or February 2016.
- Mention how their projects are going to be evaluated and how they are going to be shared with the iEARN community (such as via iEARN forums or on your class blog or on the iEARN projects blogs, etc.)
- Be as detailed as possible - include examples, video tutorials, mention which vocabulary or grammar topics your students should approach.
- Post the assignment on your blog and place the link below, in the "Comments" section. Enjoy exploring the new online tools!
